It’s once again time for the Terrifying Tales scary story writing contest for the youth of Gold River! Aspiring authors between the ages of 8 and 18 in Gold River can submit their original scary stories to the contest, and 3 winners from the branch – one who’s 8-10 years old, one who’s 11-14 years old and one who’s 15-18 years old – will be chosen to receive a prize and a copy of this year’s finished collection! The finished anthology will also be added to the VIRL collection with copies at each participating branch.
CONTEST RULES
- Contest runs until OCTOBER 18TH at 6pm.
- The age categories are 8-10 YEARS, 11-14 YEARS, and 15-18 YEARS.
- One winner from each age category at each branch will receive a published copy of the full anthology of all stories submitted as part of their prize; one copy of the anthology will also be added to the collection at each branch.
- Entries must be NO LONGER than 800 WORDS with the theme “TERRIFYING”.
- Limit of ONE STORY per writer.
- Story must be an original piece of your OWN work. You may not use AI nor present someone else’s work as your own.
- INDIVIDUAL ENTRIES ONLY! Group or class submissions will not be accepted.
- All submissions must be made via email to the Gold River Library branch: goldriver@virl.bc.ca
- Submissions should be typed or copy-pasted into the body of the email, and formatted/arranged how the author wants them to appear.
- NOTE: Internet access and help submitting the story is available at your local branch.
