We hope to have them back up and running again within the next few weeks. Other branches in our library system may also be impacted. We’re sorry for the inconvenience and will let you know as soon as they’re back up and running.

Following changes to Provincial Medical Health Officer orders, masks are no longer required when visiting the library but you can wear one if you’d like.

Open for sit down service!

Don’t forget your library card! Pick up your holds, browse the full collection and choose from our many Grab & Go bags. We also have limited seating and tables available. At this time all our public computers are out of order.

Book returns are open 24/7 for Returns!

About the Branch

A public plebiscite created the Port Alberni library 1936. In 1938, it was located in the back of McVicar’s Drug Store, where store employees acted as library attendants. 34 years later, in 1972, the library moved to the Echo Centre and underwent a major refurbishment and expansion in 2007.
