Meet Kato! Our furry Summer Reading Club assistant.
Paws and Tales is a reading program for kids ages 7 and up. Young readers can bring a book and sign up for a 20-minute reading session with Kato, a therapy dog from the Pacific Animal Therapy Society. Kato is a patient and friendly listener who loves stories and meeting new friends. This program helps children practice reading aloud with a comforting companion, build confidence, and make reading a fun experience.
To register, visit the branch or call 250-656-0944 to book a 20-minute slot. An adult must accompany each child.
The Pacific Animal Therapy Society has been providing compassionate pet therapy to Vancouver Islanders for over 35 years.

Say hello to Kato he is a Lurcher and comes all the way from England. He is 13 years old and has had a very accomplished life so far. He had visited kids in the hospital, used to be a search dog, has done agility, and titled in sprinters runs where his fastest speed was 58km per hour. His favourite things to do are play with his toy platypus and chase the laser pointer around like a cat. He is super gentle and loves kids.
