Port Alice

Following the Provincial Medical Health Officer orders, masks are now required when visiting the library. This is in addition to physical distancing, occupancy limits, and other safety measures.

A properly worn mask covers your nose and mouth at all times. If you forget your mask, we can give you one.

We are now open for Sit Down service. We welcome you to come inside the branch, a maximum of three people at a time.

You can browse the shelves (up to 15 minutes) or use a computer (one person, up to 30 minutes). You are also welcome to pop in to grab your holds.

If you prefer Takeout service, we’ll be happy to grab your items for you.

There are no fines or late fees at this time. Fines may appear on your account while items are in quarantine. Please ignore them; they will be be removed from your account.

If you’ve returned an item, and your account still shows it as checked out, the item is in quarantine, for everyone’s safety.

About the Branch

The land on which we gather is the unceded traditional territory of the Kwakwaka’wakw and Quatsino peoples, whose historical relationships with the land continue to this day.

The Port Alice library branch opened in 1972. Prior to this, Port Alice enjoyed library service through the Victoria Open Shelf Library.
