Come test your engineering skills and enjoy a fun-filled afternoon of science, engineering, and creativity! Join us outside of Nanaimo Science in Country Club Centre for our exciting Bridge Demolition Competition, where participants will test how much weight their completed bridge can withstand before breaking! This event is proudly presented in partnership with the BC Society of Engineering and Geoscience (Vancouver Island Branch), the Wellington Branch of the Vancouver Island Regional Library, and Nanaimo Science.
How it works:
- Pick up a bridge building kit at the Wellington Library, while supplies last, or join us at a Bridge Building Workshop on March 18th or 19th to build your bridge at the library
- Build a bridge following the included specifications, completing it at least a few days in advance to allow the glue to fully dry, then bring it to the event
- Measure and test your bridge using the Bridge Breaking Machine
- Compete for prizes in multiple categories!
This is a family-friendly event, open to all ages. Winners will be announced at the end of the event.
