Teen Summer Challenge 2026: Sea of Monsters

July 2 – August 31

Welcome to TSC 2026! Set sail for a summer of completing activities and winning prizes!

Registration

Registering for Teen Summer Challenge is super simple! Go to our Virtual Teen Summer Challenge portal or email us your name, age, and library branch: teensc@virl.bc.ca starting July 2. That’s all!

Attendance

To get started on your quest to the Sea of Monsters, pick up an Activity Map Booklet at your local library, or print one using the link in the supplies list below. Even if you are participating through our Virtual Teen Summer Challenge portal, you can use the booklet if you like to check them off as you go.

Sea of Monsters is a self-directed program, so you can do whichever activities you want, whenever you want! You don’t have to do them all, or even a certain number.

Each activity earns you an assigned number of points, and you will receive one draw entry per point. The more points you earn, the higher the probability that you will win one of our prizes in the draws!

Prizes

We are offering lots of prizes this year, so your chances of winning something are excellent!

  • Instax camera bundle with case and lots of extra film
  • $250 Bookstore gift card – you choose the bookstore!
  • Watercolour travel art pack
  • Portable hammock
  • JLab Open Ear Buds
  • Clay bead kit
  • Mystery Beneath the Sea book nook kit
  • Forgotten Island Escape Room in a Box
  • Mini keychain camera
  • Ocean Wave Projector Light
  • Book prizes – multiple draws per week

Track your successes via our Virtual Teen Summer Challenge portal or email us your completed activities at teensc@virl.bc.ca.

All entries must be entered into the Virtual Teen Summer Challenge portal or emailed to us by August 31 if you want your points in the draw, and you must be at least 12 years old by this date to win a prize. Please share your creations at teensc@virl.bc.ca with us – seeing what you have done is our favourite part of the summer!

Want to volunteer at your library?

Some of our larger library branches have Teen Advisory Groups! If you are 12-18 and interested in helping plan fun programs for other teens and getting volunteer hours, find out if your library has a TAG: virl.bc.ca/teen-advisory-group
