The 2025 Battle of the Books – Freedom to Read: Challenged Books Edition is now live! Schools and libraries are regularly asked to remove books and magazines from their shelves. Freedom to Read Week is a time to talk about intellectual freedom and push back against censorship. In honour of Freedom to Read Week (Feb. 23-Mar. 1), we will be voting for our FAVOURITE adult book titles that have been challenged at one time or another.
Vote for your favourite books from our top 16 challenged adult books at the Sooke branch through March! Cast your vote in person at the Sooke branch by our self checkouts. Titles with the most votes at the end of each voting period will advance to the next round.
