Make the switch to Libby

April 14, 2023

If you haven’t made the switch from the legacy OverDrive App to Libby, now is the time. The OverDrive app will officially expire on May 1.

Libby, a free App made by the same team as OverDrive, offers one of the largest collections of digital media you can borrow with your library card. You can use access the app on your phone, tablet, Kobo eReader or web browser.

It also has great features, like dyslexic font, the ability to annotate books and deep search so you can see results for all libraries in a single search with no need to switch cards (if you have a card for more than one library).

We have lots of information to help you make the switch and our library teams are always happy to help.

Here’s how to get started:

  1. Find your library and sign in. When you open Libby you will be guided through simple setup steps to find your library and sign in with your card. We have great instructions for different devices here
  2. Sync your OverDrive wish list. Once you’ve signed in, you’ll be prompted to sync your OverDrive wish list from an in-app notification. More instructions can be found through OverDrive.
  3. Start reading and listening! Browse your library for eBooks, digital audiobooks and magazines. Psst…we have an unlimited use collection. Look for items that say Unlimited Copies to bypass the need for hold waits. We also know it can be challenging for book clubs to find titles that suit both eBooks and Audiobook users, that can be checked out by  everyone at the same time. Luckily, we offer a monthly Always Available Book Club Pick in both formats.
