VIRL and CUPE 401 Achieve Two-Year Contract

Vancouver Island, BC: Vancouver Island Regional Library’s (VIRL’s) Board of Trustees (November 27, 2021) and CUPE Local 401 members (December 2, 2021) have ratified a revised Collective Agreement based on the details of the Memorandum of Agreement signed by the parties on September 21, 2021.
This two-year agreement provides for a 2% wage adjustment to all CUPE employees in 2021 and 2022, numerous changes to collective agreement language and increases to permanent employee’s health and welfare benefits.
Vancouver Island Regional Library is the fifth-largest library system in British Columbia and employs over 400 people within Vancouver Island, neighbouring Gulf Islands, Haida Gwaii and Bella Coola.
