Third-annual GeekCon Nanaimo Celebrates All Things Geek Culture

Tuesday, March 20, 2018, Nanaimo, BC: Cosplayers, graphic novel enthusiasts, video and board gamers, jousters, archers, and lovers of all things ‘geek’, it’s time to gear up and get excited, because GeekCon Nanaimo is right around the corner. The third-annual comic, arts, cosplay and gaming festival takes over the Nanaimo Harbourfront Library all day on Saturday, March 24.

This family-friendly drop-in event runs from 10 am – 5 pm and will include gaming tournaments, such as MINECRAFT and Magic the Gather
ing, all day board games, retro gaming, (foam) sword fights, a screening of the critically-acclaimed anime film Kimi no Na wa? (Your Name), a shield making workshop, a Smash Brothers tournament, cosplay competitions for children and adults, and much more geeky fun.

Local artists, writers, gamers, cosplayers and other ‘geek’ related businesses and community groups will also be on hand to showcase and promote their passions in GeekCon’s Vendor Alley. There’s also going to be lots of door prizes that people can enter to win.

For the last two years, GeekCon has drawn huge crowds and this year promises more of the same. GeekCon supports a variety of lite
racies and encourages community engagement at every age level.
