Shadow Puppet Contest

Spring break 2022 is all about shadows and shadow puppets and we want to see what you create. Have your child (or teen) take a photo of a shadow puppet or the shadow the puppet creates and email it to us at kids@virl.bc.ca or tag your pictures with @MyVIRL on Facebook or @vilibrary for Instagram to be entered for the chance to win a VIRL prize pack.
Contest dates: The contest starts March 5, 2022 and ends on April 5, 2022 at 11:59 pm.
Eligibility: Anyone 18 and under can enter.
Entries from children of employees at VIRL will not be considered.
Entrants must also live within the Vancouver Island Regional Library service area to be considered and must be able to pick up their prize at their local branch.
Entrants must have parental permission to pick up their prize.
Here’s how to enter:
Take a photo of the shadow puppet you create – or the shadow your puppet casts.
Email it to kids@virl.bc.ca with your child’s name, age and a phone number or tag your pictures with @MyVIRL on Facebook or @vilibrary for Instagram
Entries become the property of VIRL
Terms and Conditions:
By entering this contest, contestants and their legal parent(s) or guardian(s) agree to have the contestant’s name and artwork published on platforms owned by Vancouver Island Regional Library, such as Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, the website and our e-newsletter.
You agree to by the official rules and the decisions of Vancouver Island Reginal Library as it relates to the contest, which shall be final in all respects.
VIRL reserves the right to refuse, withdraw or disqualify any entry at any time at its sole discretion.
Winners must claim their prize within 30 days of initial attempted contact. If the original winner cannot be contacted within that time frame, a secondary prize winner will be chosen.
All entries become the property of VIRL.
The shadow puppet contest is hosted by Vancouver Island Regional Library and is in no way sponsored, endorsed, administered by or associated with Facebook or Instagram.
Judging:
Entries will be judged at the end of the contest by VIRL staff and the winners will be notified by email, social media (via private message) or phone. Decisions are at the discretion of VIRL staff.
Prizes:
A VIRL Prize Pack of a mug, a Tales the Whale stuffie, pencil and stickers (valued at approximately $20)
