Calling all dog lovers! We are teaming up with Nanaimo-based Foley Dog Treat Company for a fun photo contest to celebrate Dog Appreciation Day.  You and your dog could win!

Enter:

• Take a photo of your dog with a library theme, such as a dog with a book, reading with you or in front of your local library branch.
• Submit it by posting it in the comments of our original contest post on the Vancouver Island Regional Library + Fans Facebook page with the name of your dog

The public can vote their favourite photos by liking the picture in the comments so feel free to spread the word. The five photos with the highest votes will be judged by VIRL staff based on whether it meets the criteria, its creativity and image quality.

Three winners will be announced on VIRL’s social media platforms on Dog Appreciation Day on August 26, 2021, and VIRL will reach out to the winners by direct message on Facebook.

You could win:

First prize: VIRL dog bandana, three Foley Dog Treat Company treat bags, A Dog’s Purpose paperback book by W. Bruce Cameron and a limited-edition VIRL Mug (value approximately $70)

Second: Three treat bags from Foley Dog Treat Company and a limited-edition VIRL mug (value approximately $42).

Third: Two treat bags from Foley Dog Treat Company and a limited-edition VIRL mug (value approximately $30).

OFFICIAL CONTEST RULES:

Contest dates: The contest starts August 19, 2021 and closes at 11:59 p.m., August 25, 2021. The winner will be announced on social media accounts on Dog Appreciation Day, August 26, 2021.

Eligibility: No purchase necessary. Adults 19+ can enter. One entry per dog. Entries from employees at Vancouver Island Regional Library (VIRL) will not be considered. Entrants must live within the VIRL service area to be considered and must be able to pick up their prize at their local branch.

By entering the contest, contestants consent to allowing Vancouver Island Regional Library to announce any prize winners’ names and social media handles on its website, e-newsletter and social media platforms.

VIRL reserves the right to refuse, withdraw or disqualify any entry at any time at its sole discretion. By entering this contest, you agree you are eligible to participate based on eligibility requirements explained in the official rules. You also agree to accept the decisions of VIRL as final and binding as it relates to the content of this contest.

All entries become the property of VIRL, which can publish the submitted photo and content without any compensation to the contestant or any other party.  This shall include unlimited reproduction, publication, use and distribution in all forms and media and in all manners, including on the website, newsletter and social media platforms.
