Comox Infrastructure Project
September 25, 2024
A Comox Valley Regional District (CVRD)-led Sewer Conveyance Project is currently taking place in the Comox Valley, involving the installation of new sewer pipes and pump stations from Courtenay, through Comox, and into the Lazo area. The route of the new pipe through Comox goes along Beaufort Ave, which will affect library users.
The estimated start date of the roadwork taking place in front of the Comox branch is Tuesday, October 8, with completion in the area set for spring 2025.
Our team is working hard to ensure our services and materials remain available to library users throughout this project. Please be aware that we need to remain flexible to accommodate any changes in the construction schedule. We will be working closely with the Comox Valley Regional District to keep you informed and will let you know of any updates.
Q&As
Where can I park during construction?
Unfortunately, there will be no parking in front of the branch during construction (October 8-spring 2025). There are limited spaces available behind the Comox branch and additional parking is available on Nordin or Comox Avenue. Periodic closures and restrictions will also affect delivery access and public walkway and sidewalk access may also be intermittent throughout the project.
Will construction impact deliveries and holds?
Yes. We expect construction will affect deliveries and holds. We have switched to a tentative schedule to ensure our patrons are getting their materials. Deliveries are now made on Tuesdays and Saturdays. If this changes, we will let you know. Our staff are also exploring extending holds and possibly expanding home delivery and other supports for library users.
What can library users do if it gets too noisy at the branch due to construction?
We recognize that the construction noise can be disruptive, and we truly appreciate your understanding. We’re doing everything we can to minimize the impact on your library experience. If the noise becomes too distracting, please ask our staff about quieter alternatives, such as online resources or visiting our nearby branches.
How can I get more information about the project?
