ProQuest Central

We’re ringing in the New Year with a new eResource perfect for researchers. ProQuest Central allows users to search 47 ProQuest databases in a single easy-to-use platform. Our existing ProQuest eResources, such as Canadian Newsstream and BC Historical Newspapers, will also be available through this platform.

ProQuest Central is a robust collection of databases, including 20 academic databases, 4 business databases, 6 health databases, 4 news databases, and more.

ProQuest Central provides exciting additions to our electronic news publications, including popular publications that were not previously in VIRL’s collection such as The New York Times, The Washington Post, and The Atlantic. It also provides multimedia content from sources including CNN, Al Jazeera, and 60 Minutes.

Academic researchers will be interested in databases across all disciplines, from humanities to sciences, with a large proportion of full-text and peer-reviewed articles. Business researchers will enjoy access to popular resources such as Canadian Business & Current Affairs and ABI/INFORM.

To try out ProQuest Central click on the link on the library’s webpage under: Read, Watch, Listen—All Databases. It is available in all branches using library WiFi, or from home with your library card.

Search Tip: to search in only some of the ProQuest Central databases, instead of the entire collection, simply click the resource(s) you would like to search under the “Change Databases” tab
