Quadra Island Library Expansion
September 29, 2025
What You Need to Know
We are thrilled to share that the Quadra Island Library is expanding! This exciting project will bring new features and improvements to the branch, allowing us to serve the community better. We know construction can be a bit disruptive, so we appreciate your patience and curiosity as we work to create a better space for everyone. Here’s everything you need to know about the project.
Why is the library expanding?
Our current library space is well-loved, but it’s also quite small and limits what we can offer. By expanding into the space next door, we’ll be able to provide more seating, study tables, flexible gathering areas, and even a bookable meeting room. This expansion will allow us to better meet the needs of our community both now and in the future.
What new features will the expanded library have?
- More community seating space
- Study tables and flexible seating options
- Expanded collection area
- A new bookable meeting room
- A new space to showcase local art
These improvements will provide more room to read, study, connect, and create in a more flexible, welcoming environment.
Will the library close during construction?
No! The library will remain open throughout the construction. While you may hear some noise from the renovations, all the services you rely on — including borrowing, programs, computers, Wi-Fi, and more — will continue as usual.
When will the new space be ready?
Construction is set to begin in October, and we anticipate the expanded library will open to the public in the new year.
Will there be any changes to parking or branch hours?
No, parking and library hours will remain the same during and after construction. We’re committed to making sure our services stay convenient and accessible to everyone in the community.
Thank you for your support as we work to enhance the library for the whole community. We can’t wait to welcome you into the new space in the new year!
