5 Great Resources for Students
September 1, 2023
It’s time for students to head back to school, and we’ve got great resources to help with homework and home learning for kids and teens.
Here are five resources (free with a library card), that can help students this school year:
- Solaro! The start of the school year can be an anxious time for students and their caregivers and never more so than after learning disruptions from the COVID-19 pandemic. Students may need to review what they learned last year before jumping into another year of learning, home-learning parents are working on their lesson plans, students entering Grade 12 have provincial exam prep on their minds and adult learners are looking for study tools to help them complete high school.
- Libby. Download the app to get free ebooks and digital audiobooks for kids and teens!
- National Geographic Kids. Find reputable, authoritative and appropriate content that brings children aged 6-14 the world in a way they’ve never seen it before. Fun and substantive, National Geographic Kids will take them on amazing adventures in science, nature, culture, archaeology, and space.
- Kanopy Kids. Stream free films for kids.
- BC Historical Newspapers. Access historical newspapers, including the Vancouver Sun (1912-2010), The Times Colonist (1884-2010) and The Province (1894-2010). It’s great for students who need to do research.
We also have resources for Home Learning (including Tinker Totes and STEAM kits) as well as resources for Educators (including Book a Library Tour)!
