Welcome to Kindergarten!
Did you know that your local library offers a world of discovery and a TON of activities and fun resources that support a child’s first Kindergarten year?
Vancouver Island Regional Library is pleased to offer every child in our community their very own Children’s Library Card, valid at any of Vancouver Island Regional Library’s 39 branches.
Ages 0 – 12 represents an important time in the lives of children, so we have a special card to support children’s curiosity and excitement as they begin their adventures in learning!
Your child’s library card is a passport to adventure and knowledge, and starts with a visit to your local Vancouver Island Regional Library branch.
A world of discovery awaits your child – and the adventure starts with a card! Visit our Borrowing Basics page for more info about borrowing at your library.

Literacy Kits
Vancouver Island Regional Library has created special Literacy Kits to support children’s curiosity as they begin their adventures in formal learning.
The kits include a box filled with books, puppets, educational toys, DVDs and CDs!
The kits cover a wide range of topics including animal stories, stories in rhyme, and imagination; the kits celebrate what children already know and reinforce what they will learn in the years ahead!
