What is ESports

eSports is a form of competition using video games. Popular e-Sports games include multiplayer online battle arena (MOBA), first-person shooter (FPS), digital collectible card games, and arena games. The popularity of e-Sports is growing year by year with an estimated viewership of over 450 million viewers.

What kind of e-Sports does the library offer?

The Creativity Commons offers drop-in nintendo switch access during regular open hours and offers regular programming for teens every Monday from 2-4pm to compete and develop their competitive skills.

Rules for Using the Nintendo Switch

  • You may only borrow one controller at time and are responsible for the controller at all times.
  • Removal of the systems and controllers from the library is strictly prohibited.
  • Each gamer can play for up to 1 hour per day outside of library scheduled programs.
  • Play nice!

FAQ

Can I book the Nintendo Switch?

The Nintendo Switch is drop-in only and available on a first come first serve basis.

Can I bring my own controllers to play with the switch?

Yes, if you have wireless controllers, you can bring them to use while you are in the library.

Can I borrow video games from the library?

Yes, the library offers the latest console games available to be borrowed through the collection. Vancouver Island Regional Library carries Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One games.
