Please note that the Library’s Circulation System will be undergoing an upgrade on: Tuesday, February 23 from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Will my library branch be closed?
No. All branches that are scheduled to be open on February 23 will remain open during this upgrade.
How will this upgrade affect me?
During this time, you may not be able to:
- search the online catalogue
- log into their account to place holds or renew items
- access our eResources
- receive courtesy and hold email/telephone pickup notices
- use self-checkout stations
- access public internet/computers
- phone our telephone account and renewal line: 1-888-988-8475 (VIRL)
How long will the upgrade take?
The upgrade is scheduled to take place between the hours of 7 a.m. and 5 p.m.
Can I still take out books and materials?
Can I still take out books and materials?
Yes. Staff will be on hand in the branches to assist with holds and checkouts.
Can I still register for a library card?
Yes, while you will not be able to use that card in our system that day, staff will take down your information to input into our system when it is back up and running again.
Can I return books to the branch?
Yes. Book drops will remain open.
When will I know when I can access the catalogue again?
Once the upgrade is complete, the notice on our website virl.bc.ca will be removed and customers will continue to have access to our services and catalogue.
What will change with this upgrade?
We expect that this system upgrade will increase our ability to provide a more stable, secure, and reliable customer experience.
