ABOUT THE PRESENTER:
Richard Bernier’s gardening hobby started as a preteen when one of his elderly neighbours hired him (his first job) to help them in their garden. They showed him what plants were weeds and directed him to a vegetable garden that was in dire need of weeding.
He gardened on and off until his teens when he discovered indoor plants. So started his journey in plant husbandry–the gardening bug had bitten him! After moving to the coast in 1994, he became enamored with the climate and developed a taste for exotics plants both indoor and outdoor.
ABOUT VIMGA:
The Vancouver Island Master Gardeners Association (VIMGA) is a chapter of the Master Gardeners Association, an international service society of specially trained volunteers who teach science-based sustainable gardening practices to home gardeners. VIMGA is one of the 5 chapters in the British Columbia Association and partnering with the Victoria chapter, specializes in the stewardship of Vancouver Island’s unique environment.
