Join Marlene Kelly for a special storytime “The Adventures of Wisakedjak” ~ pronounced (whis-sah-kehd-chak)
Marlene will tell how the Cree people, the stars, the earth and regalia are all connected and share traditional Cree stories based around Wisakejak, a principle character in Cree tales.
Marlene is a Cree-Metis, born in Edmonton AB. but was raised and is still residing in the beautiful K’omoks territory. Her family is from Fort Chipewyan and Fort McMurray AB. She is a fourth generation beadwork artist that makes traditional and contemporary beadwork, regalia, and other traditional crafts. She is passionate about her culture and enjoys sharing her knowledge.
We respectfully acknowledge that this event is taking place on the unceded traditional territories of the K’ómoks First Nation, who have been caretakers of the land since time immemorial.
