Teen Holiday Review  

Bookworms assemble! We are looking for teen readers in the Comox Valley to help us write book reviews in exchange for volunteer hours.

Instructions  

1. Get a Library Card. 
2. Review our teen booklist. 
3. Choose one of the books from the list and check out a copy from your local library branch.  
4. Read the book.  
5. Submit your review by email to courtenay@virl.bc.ca by 11:59pm Sunday January 12 . Please put “Teen Holiday Book Review” with your full name in the subject of your email.
6. We will evaluate your review and send an email back confirming your hours earned.

Review Criteria 

• Reviews must be submitted on time.  
• Rate the book out of 5 stars and write a review (under 250 words).  
• Reviews must be in your own words. We want your thoughts! Did you like the book? Did it engage you? Would you read books by the author again? If you did not like it why not?  
• We do not want a summary of the book’s plot. This is an opportunity to help others decide if the book is worth reading.  
• Reviews of only a couple of sentences will be returned.  
• Reviews will be posted in the library catalogue. 

Volunteer Hours 

• You get one hour per 100 pages (If the book is 215 pages = 2 hours, 285 pages =3 hours)  
• If you use an eBook, eAudiobook or audiobook, we’ll use the page numbers from the print copy to calculate your volunteer hours 
• One Hour for writing the review  
• You will receive an email confirming the hours earned for each review.  

Want to receive a bonus hour? Teens who complete their review will be invited to a special library event to share their thoughts with other book enthusiasts and reviewers.  

Requirements  

• Must be a Comox Valley Resident 
• Open to teens aged 13-18 years old.
