Join local non-profit, Poverty Advocacy Nanaimo (PAN), for a drop in presentation and learn about resources available for low-income people in Nanaimo.

Led by founder Sarah Pump, who, in 2021, was diagnosed with a chronic illness and was no longer able to continue her career as a librarian. Already a single mother, Sarah was forced into poverty with her son, joining the countless others who depend on government benefits to survive. As the founder of PAN, Sarah uses her research skills to locate a wide variety of resources that align with PAN’s mission; to overcome barriers faced by people in poverty by improving accessibility to resources so that Nanaimo’s low-income neighbors can improve their standard of living.
