SUMMARY:Philosophy Cafe: Climate\, Power\, and Responsibility
DESCRIPTION:Climate\, Power\, and Responsibility: A Community Conversation with Finn Meyer Cook \nPhilosophy Café is a space for the friendly discussion and clarification of ideas. Everyone is welcome and admission is free. \nIf climate change exposes deep gaps in global governance\, what ethical responsibilities do corporations\, governments\, and local citizens hold? How do principles like “polluter pays\,” human rights due diligence\, and ESG (environmental\, social\, and governance) commitments stack up against real-world practices? We’ll dialogue about what local and transnational initiatives can offer or teach us about agency\, hope\, and justice in times of climate crisis. \nFinn Meyer Cook is a Professor of Social Work at VIU\, and represents VIUFA on FPSE’s Climate Action Committee. \n(Coffee will be served\, and to conserve paper\, Philosophy Café is transitioning to BYOM [bring-your-own-mug].)
