A Primer on Roses: Varieties, Planting and Care
A garden without a rose is a garden that will always be missing something important. Wendy Strachan will show us how to complete our gardens by including this ancient, loved and beautiful species. She’ll review different types of roses and offer tips on growing them. She will share ideas for the different ways roses can be used to enhance your garden and how to troubleshoot rose problems so these amazing perennials will continue to reward you for years with their beauty.

About the Instructor:
Wendy Strachan, dedicated gardener with a passion for growing roses, has been an active member of the Vancouver Island Master Gardeners Chapter for 12 years. Wendy says her experiences – both successes and failures –are equally important, for each has added to her store of practical knowledge all of which she loves to share and teach. She currently serves as chair of the chapter’s education committee.
The Vancouver Island Master Gardeners Association (VIMGA) is a chapter of the Master Gardeners Association, an international service society of specially trained volunteers who teach science-based sustainable gardening practices to home gardeners. VIMGA is one of the 5 chapters in the British Columbia Association, and partnering with the Victoria chapter, specializes in the stewardship of Vancouver Island’s unique environment.
