
In partnership with the Vancouver Island Regional Library, CBC is proud to collaborate in uplifting the voices of Port Alberni from January 23-24, 2025 and beyond. With a focus on the look ahead, there will be a series of special events that will celebrate and foster connections with the community to unveil the hope and vision for the future of Port Alberni.

CBC will be on site at the Port Alberni branch (4255 Wallace St) prior to scheduled events later in the week!

Event: Enjoy a live morning radio broadcast of On The Island with CBC’s Gregor Craigie

Event: Join CBC All Points West‘s Jason D’Souza and CBC Vibin’ host Rohit Joseph as they guest-host an evening of live music and conversation with Tsimka & Michael Red
Date: Friday, January 24, 2025
Time: 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.
Location: Capitol Theatre, 4904 Argyle Street, Port Alberni, BC
This concert will blend music from the land and from the heart. Tsimka will share songs in her heritage language, Tia-o-qui-aht ƛaʔuukwiʔatḥ.ḥ., while Michael creates soundscapes with recordings by Tsimka from her ƛaʔuukwiʔatḥ home territory, and Sḵwx̱wú7mesh territory.

Indigenous Youth Workshop

Event: Making Music & Sharing Language with Tsimka & Michael Red
Date: Thursday, January 23, 2025
This workshop led by Tsimka & Michael Red is limited to Grade 6 & 7 classes attending and they have been warmly invited to bring drums and other small scale instruments, words in their language, or just bring themselves!
