Join Kate Braid and Daniela Elza for the launch of their hot off-the-press memoirs, The Erotics of Cutting Grass by Kate Braid and, Is This an Illness or an Accident? by Daniela Elza. With wit, humour, and vulnerability these women authors explore and redefine what it means to belong, to age, to work and to live passionately while refusing to be defined by others.

Daniela Elza’s debut essay collection Is This an Illness or an Accident? (Caitlin Press, 2025) delves into conflicts and contradictions of what it means to belong, to work, and to find home. Poems from her sixth collection SCAR/CITY (McGill-Queen’s University Press, 2025) were longlisted for the 2024 CBC Poetry Prize. Daniela is the recipient of the 2024 Colleen Thibaudeau Award for Outstanding Contribution to Poetry.

Kate Braid returns with her signature wit, warmth and boldness to tackle subjects beyond her unconventional career—step-parenthood, travel, and embracing the unfamiliar at any age. Kate Braid has written, co-written, edited and co-edited 20 books of non-fiction and prize-winning poetry, most recently “Elemental” (Caitilin).  She lives on Pender Island and in Victoria.
