SUMMARY:Author Talk: Lawrence Feuchtwanger
DESCRIPTION:Love\, Loss\, and Borders That Cannot Be Crossed\n\nJoin us at the Courtenay Library this Saturday\, September 12th from 2:00 to 3:00 p.m. for an afternoon with Gabriola Island author Lawrence Feuchtwanger. Feuchtwanger will be reading from and discussing his novel\, Skin. Set in apartheid South Africa\, Skin is a powerful story of thwarted love across the racial divide\, a disrupted coming-of-age tale\, and a tense political drama. The novel follows Danny\, a young white man who\, following a traumatic event\, is forced to confront both his country’s abhorrent racism and his own family’s complex history as German-Jewish refugees who fled genocide. Exploring the porous boundaries where people meet\, touch\, and bleed\, the story dives into the painful legacies of racism and the ongoing struggle for justice. Though set in another era\, the themes of this sensitive and explosive novel remain deeply relevant to issues we face today.
