SUMMARY:Poetry Event with Kamal Parmar
DESCRIPTION:These poems speak lucidly about the beauty of Nature that is awe-inspiring. Its beauty is everywhere—it is mesmerising and spell binding. The poet requests the reader to not only see the Grand tapestry of Nature but also ‘feel it’ as an integral part of ourselves. We need to stop awhile and look around us\, as we see the slow transition of the seasons\, leaving behind their enchanting trail. Nature is whimsical. It speaks a language that we need to decipher. \nLocal poet and writer\, Kamal Parmar has been passionately involved in writing since the last 20 years. Her genre is poetry and she has a few books to her credit. Her poems are simple\, though\npoised and evocative enough to set the reader thinking. She also has several poetry publications in reputed Canadian literary journals and magazines. She has a few books published in UK\, Canada and India. She has won many Honorable Mentions and prizes for her poems. She has also given many poetry readings and presentations in various libraries\, in ON\, SK and in BC. Her books are available in most libraries in various provinces of Canada. She is a member of a Haiku Canada\, a professional member of the Canadian Authors Association and of The Writers Union of Canada and a full member of the League of Canadian Poets. She was also an active member of the Saskatchewan Writers Guild and a past Board member of the Federation of BC Writers. She was the former Poet Laureate of the City of Nanaimo\, BC. \nJoin local poet and writer Kamal for a poetry reading along with two other feature local poets\, Carla Stein and Ian Cognito. \nThere will be an Open Mic. at 3 pm. on a first come\, first served basis. All are welcome to join and participate.
