Big Bike Bamboozle
December 16, 2019
“When she returned, her bike wasn’t there. Someone had taken it while she was out at the fair. The security guard was gone. He was nowhere to be found. He must have turned away; he mustn’t have heard a sound. Kayla was confused, furious; she was super-duper mad. She felt so many feels. She was sadder than sad.”
Way back in August of 2013, Lindsay Ford invited a friend over to her place in Olympic Village and assured her that it would be OK to lock her bike up outside while they ventured off to the PNE. That friend was Kayla Smith and it was the beginning of the inspiration for the Big Bike Bamboozle.
We don’t want to give the whole story away, but basically Kayla was fearless, took matters into her own hands and found a way to get her bike back on her own! The whole story went completely viral and Kayla was even invited down to be a guest on a U.S. talk show! Lindsay always loved the story and was very proud of her friend for standing up for herself — she knew it was a perfect fit for her Awkward + Awesome series!
This local Vancouver Island author has been busy in 2019, creating six new titles! We are fortunate to have her as a guest in several branches sharing her lively tales with customers of all ages. When we recently caught up with her, we learned that several new stories are already underway, including one all about ladies of STEAM. We can’t wait!
You can find Lindsay on Facebook at Bread + Clutter and her books are available here!
