Have you been thinking about sorting out your will, power of attorney, and whatever else you might need?  Worried about what will transpire after your death?

When people pass without a will, the proceeds of the estate often does not go to the beneficiaries that the deceased would have intended, the cost of the process to probate becomes very expensive and the time it takes for the courts to probate the will is extremely long compared to those who have prepared a proper will ahead of time.  Some seniors have shared that making a will reduces stress and eliminates the angst of uncertainty.

The workshop will include:

  • a discussion of the benefits and conveniences of having a will in place,
  • how to structure an effective will and the value of keeping it up to date.

The workshops will also discuss estate planning issues such as:

  • which professionals should be consulted,
  • establishing powers of attorneys for property and for personal care,
  • minimization of taxes and administration (probate) fees,
  • the need to keep your executor informed so they can access accounts,
  • on-line accounts (and passwords) and other important information,
  • the value of communication between your executor and beneficiaries as critical to ensure a smooth transaction.
