A Talk by Chief Douglas White and Chief Shawn Atleo: "Implementing the Snuneymuxw Treaty of 1854 - A Vision for Our Common Future"

Vancouver Island Regional Library is excited to welcome Chief Douglas White and National Chief of the Assembly of First Nations Shawn Atleo to Nanaimo Harbourfront Library for an evening discussion of the treaty of 1854.  The Snuneymuxw dancers will perform in Diana Krall Square at 6:30 p.m., and will dance up to the mezzanine level to start the evening's event.

This talk is the third event in the Vancouver Island University's Aboriginal Speaking Series which is culminating in the May 10 & 11 conference, "Fulfilling Treaty Promises and Living in Treaty Relationships" hosted by VIU and the Snuneymuxw First Nation.  Attendance is complimentary and the library will still be open to the public for regular use.  Parking is available underneath the library and conference centre for a fee.
