Please join Read Local BC for the final event of our Fall 2017 series, where local authors will read from their books exploring the concepts of Time and Place.

Yvonne Blomer, Victoria’s Poet Laureate, will be reading from the new anthology Refugium: Poems for the Pacific (Caitlin Press) featuring poetry written by prize-winning BC poets, musicians, and artists including Bruce Cockburn, Brian Brett, and Lorna Crozier.

Christopher Gudgeon’s The Encyclopedia of Lies (Anvil Press) is bitterly funny, provocative, and poignant. This remarkable collection of eleven stories builds on Gudgeon’s growing literary reputation and offers a heartbreaking and hilarious look into the lives, loves, sexual obsessions, and delusions that inform a grand cast of off-kilter characters.

Keith Ogilvie’s The Spitfire Luck of Skeets Ogilvie: From the Battle of Britain to the Great Escape (Heritage House) is his book about his father, a Canadian pilot who finds adventure and amazing good luck on the frontlines of the Second World War.

Barbara Pelman’s poetry collection Narrow Bridge (Ronsdale Press) explores bridges between people and places, both real and metaphoric.

Books will be available for sale from Tanner’s Books. The event will be held in the Nell Horth Room.
