George Mercer, a former National Park Warden and local Vancouver Island author will be at the Courtenay branch of the Vancouver Island Regional Library from 6-8PM on Thursday, July 28th to do a series a of readings from his Dyed In The Green fiction series about Canada’s national parks.

George will be reading from his title book Dyed In The Green as well as the recently released Wood Buffalo, the second novel in the series. He will also do a short reading from the yet-to-be-released third book in the series, Jasper Wild, due out next year.

The Dyed In The Green series is a first for Canada and the only fiction series about our country’s national parks. It takes readers along with the main characters as they work their way across the country, with each novel set in a different national park and dealing with the different challenges faced by those working to protect our special places.

Mercer, who was born and raised in Newfoundland, worked in six national parks across Canada including eight years in Gulf Islands National Park Reserve, before retiring in 2012 to pursue his passion for writing.

Wood Buffalo and Dyed In The Green are available in bookstores across Canada including The Laughing Oyster Bookshop in Courtenay, co-hosts for the July 28th event.
