Join Wendy Donawa (Victoria) and Genevieve Lehr (Halifax) as they present new volumes of poetry in the Comox Valley. Wendy has released her first volume of poetry, THIN AIR OF THE UNKNOWABLE, and Genevieve, her second, STOMATA.

Wendy Donawa, formerly a museum curator and academic in Barbados, now lives on the West Coast and participates in Victoria’s vibrant poetry scene. Her poems have appeared in anthologies, magazines, and online publications across Canada. She was a finalist in The Malahat Review’s 2013 Open Season Competition, and in 2015 she was runner-up in the inaugural Cedric Literary Awards. She has also published three chapbooks of poetry.

Patrick Lane says Wendy Donawa’s poetry "rests at the very edge of beauty where a wild delicacy resides.”

Genevieve Lehr is the editor of Come And I Will Sing You: A Newfoundland Songbook and the author of the chapbook The Design of Wings and her debut collection The Sorrowing House. Genevieve was the 2015 winner of the Malahat Review Long Poem Prize. Her poetry has been published in many literary journals, both in Canada and abroad.

"One can return again and again … and still discover new insights. The range of reference is wide and surprising—Nâzim Hikmet, Bobbie Gentry, Milarepa, St. Francis—the language dissociative, the rhythms often raw and out of order. There’s something elevated, germinal, fascinating here.” — Jury Citation from The Malahat Review’s 2015 Long Poem Prize
