150x39: A Poetry Anthology

Calling all rhymesters, bards, sonneteers, lyricists, wordsmiths, and anyone else with a passion for poetry!

Starting July 21, Vancouver Island Regional Library (VIRL), in collaboration with the Poet Laureate of Nanaimo, will be collecting poems from our communities about the vast, varied, and vibrant place we call Canada. Our goal is to choose one poem from each of our 39 branches and fill an anthology to commemorate Canada's 150th.

Submit your poem to creativitycommons [at] virl [dot] bc [dot] ca by October 1. Poems should in some way connect to Canada and/or your community.

Poems will be curated by VIRL staff and the Poet Laureate of Nanaimo, Tina Biello. The completed anthology will be printed on our book machine in our Creativity Commons and form part of our permanent collection. It will be available to anyone with a library card.

Winning submissions will be unveiled at a launch party in Diana Krall Plaza on November 4.
